Number of countries by initial

This is a visualization of countries sorted after their initials (check out the interactive version too!). Turns out, there are 26 country names that start with the letter S, the most frequent one. This is followed by 19 M-countries, 17 B and C each, and 11 A and G each.

Quandl + NVD3 = Interactive Data Plotter

During my daily work, I do a lot quick data checks on various (energy and development) indicators. For sure the classic way is to go EIA, BP, World Bank or one of the other large, established databases and copy the data into Excel or so and start staring. Nowadays, I would find it actually more convenient
